Roma Williams, LMFT-S

As the daughter and granddaughter of educators, I was raised to understand the value of hard work. The mantra was simple: if I worked hard and got good grades, I could enjoy life’s rewards! That same ethic carried over into my experiences in sports, where I discovered the importance of teamwork and perseverance.I still remember the day in middle school when I turned to a friend and said, “I’m going to be a therapist.” I even laid out exactly how I’d make a living and the kind of work I’d do. Looking back, I recognize that as a gift from God because I had never met or even heard of a therapist before.

Fast forward a few years, I left my home in Vallejo, CA, to attend Clark Atlanta University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. While I knew graduate school was the next step, I wasn’t sure where it would lead me. All I knew was that I wanted to work with relationships. Two years later, I graduated with a Master of Family Therapy from Mercer University’s School of Medicine.

My journey since then has been diverse and deeply fulfilling. I’ve worked in addiction services, served as a family and child advocate, and provided community-based therapy for adults with severe mental illnesses—both in the private sector and at the Houston VA hospital, helping our nation’s veterans.

Unload It Therapy was born out of a desire to create a team of therapists who share a common mission: to work hard, support each other, and serve our clients with dedication.

Today, as a therapist and author, I have the privilege of helping individuals and couples navigate the challenges in their relationships. I am especially passionate about working with professionals, particularly women and women of color, to manage stress, prevent burnout, and heal from trauma. As a supervisor, nothing brings me more joy than training the next generation of therapists, guiding them to bring their whole selves into their work.

Licensed in four states (TX, FL, GA, CA) serving as the Clinical Director at Unload It Therapy, and finishing my doctorate degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, life keeps me busy—especially in this post-pandemic world. But when I do find some free time, I cherish moments spent with friends, attending church, and visiting my family back in California.

    Andrea Arnold, B.A

    Marriage and Family Therapy Resident

Growing up, therapy wasn’t something we talked about, especially in many Black households like mine. I often heard, “What happens in this house, stays in this house.” Little did I know, this would spark my lifelong interest in mental health and the importance of breaking those silences.

Originally from Los Angeles, I ventured to Cleveland, Ohio, where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with minors in Sociology and Business from Cleveland State University. My journey eventually brought me to Houston, TX in 2022, and soon after, I began my graduate studies at Syracuse University.

From an early age, I found myself drawn to helping others. Whether it was friends at school navigating social or personal challenges, I was always there to listen. This natural curiosity about people’s experiences led me to psychology, where I became fascinated by what shapes our thoughts, reactions, and behaviors.

In therapy, you are the expert on your life. My role is to bring evidence-based skills and tools to help you thrive. Together, we’ll dig into the challenges you face, uncover connections, and develop strategies to create lasting change. My goal is to support, validate, and guide you as you work toward becoming the best version of yourself.

I am passionate about breaking down the barriers and stigma around mental health, especially within the Black/African American and LGBTQ+ communities, as well as for those experiencing anxiety and depression. I work with individuals, families, and couples from all walks of life, and I am here to help you take that next step toward healing and growth.
